HATHAAI
Hathaai takes its name from a deeply local phenomenon in western Rajasthan, the everyday gatherings in chowks, under trees, or at village thresholds, where people engage in slow, meandering conversations. These informal exchanges form the very essence of social and cultural life in the region. Our Hathaai sessions draw from this tradition, creating intimate spaces to listen, reflect, and engage with Rajasthan’s living knowledge systems — from folklore and oral histories to ecology, craft, and performance. Rooted in the spirit of slow conversations and collective learning, Hathaai is part of Thorr’s larger commitment to building a cultural ecosystem that nurtures dialogue, archives vernacular knowledge, and reimagines contemporary art practice through a local, embodied lens.
