Rajasthan is a captivating destination drawing international artists seeking to engage with local culture and its vibrant artistic heritage. We provide a welcoming platform for these artists and practitioners to interact with local artists and explore the rich landscapes and traditions of Rajasthan. We create diverse platforms and presentation formats utilized by visiting artists to share their work.

Maya Kamathy

Singer, Musician and Composer from Reuinion Island

Maya Kamaty, the trailblazing voice from La Réunion, is transforming the island’s traditional Maloya music into a vibrant global soundscape. Known for her soulful blend of ancestral rhythms and contemporary influences, she’s crafting a bold new identity for this UNESCO-recognized heritage. In an insightful lecture, she shared the history of La Réunion, weaving tales of the slave trade from Africa and India and its profound influence on her music. The evening culminated in an electrifying performance, where her haunting melodies and powerful beats transported listeners across oceans and cultures.

Maya Kamaty is more than a musician—she’s a cultural bridge, keeping tradition alive while infusing it with fresh, global perspectives.

Tita Nzebi

Singer from South Gabon

Tita Nzebi brings her powerful voice rooted in Gabonese African heritage to global stages, captivating audiences with the richness of ethnic Black music while shedding light on the realities of her homeland. Her talent has garnered acclaim, firmly establishing her as a prominent figure in contemporary African music.

 

During her visit to Jodhpur, she collaborated with Langa artists in an interactive workshop, offering students a chance to immerse themselves in her music. In addition to the workshop, Tita showcased a documentary film detailing her life and musical journey, and performed twice, once of the students of IITJodhpur and at Daspan House for the crowd of Jodhpur city.

Lise Borel

Singer, Musician and Composer from France

Lise Borel is a young French composer whose primary instrument is the voice, drawing inspiration from her love of literature and the arts. She is the winner of the Marvin Hamlisch International Music Awards 2021 and the Japan International Composition Competition 2021. Lise has been in residence at Ircam, the Académie Musicale de Villecroze, the Abbaye Royale de Fontevraud, and the Atacama Desert in Chile. Her works have been performed by renowned artists such as Philippe Jaroussky and Edgar Moreau, and in prestigious venues like the Théâtre des Champs Élysées, Les Invalides, and the Auditorium de Radio France. In addition to composing for the Fondation de France and the Institut de France, she serves as an assistant conductor at the Maîtrise de Radio France, where she also teaches composition. During her residency, Lise conducted workshops on music composition and performed across the city in English, Spanish, French, and Hindi. She also collaborated with visual artists for live performances, and towards the end of her residency, showcased her talent at the French Embassy in India in a fusion performance with the renowned Dargah Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia Qawwali group.

SEPT

MuralArt from Indian Ocean-Reunion island 

Mural Art by SEPT created in the context of the annual Wall Art Festival od Alliance Francaise. For the Jodhpur 2025 edition, Thorr facilitated the collaboration between SEPT and JIET Hospital.

Created amidst the Cancer Department at JIET Hospital in Jodhpur, this artwork, called "Des poissons dans le désert" - or "Fishes in the Desert" explores the profound symbolism of water's arrival in the desert. Erected over six levels of scaffolding during a multi-day challenge, the piece symbolizes hope and the protective circle offered by hospital staff and caregivers to patients. Designed to transform the environment, it aims to offer patients a respite from their daily lives.
